Founded in 1974 by Mr. Laurier Pedneault, Congébec is the largest provider of refrigerated services in the region of Quebec and second largest on the Canadian territory. Congébec is also the only company to offer logistical support in Montreal and Quebec City. Congébec operates six modern distribution centers, including three in Quebec City, one in Sainte-Julie, one in Boucherville and one in Montreal, all of which are located near main highways, ports and major food chain warehouses. |
Congebec's first operations started in 1974, following the acquisition of a warehouse on Dalhousie Street, in close proximity to Quebec's old port. After some expansions in the region of Quebec, it was in 1997 that Congébec purchased its first warehouse in the Montreal region. In 2002, the construction of the new warehouse in Boucherville began, which consisted in an important expansion of the company. In 2004, Congébec purchased Centre Frigorifique Montérégie, which is often referred as Sainte-Julie warehouse. In doing so, Congébec also purchased CFM logistics, that now is congébec's transport division. Following these acquisitions, Congébec became the largest refrigerated warehouse company in Quebec and second largest in Canada. In 2006, the Boucherville warehouse was considerably expanded.
A seventh warehouse is under construction in Manseau and that is to be ready for autumn 2008. This warehouse, almost entirely dedicated to the cranberry industry, demonstrates once again of Congébec's unceasing growth, making it the most important refrigerated warehouse company in Quebec. |
